Music at Miss Kim’s

Friday Morning Music

Rhythm Buddies with Dr. Skogen

  • Let’s sing popular children’s songs and nursery rhymes, utilizing child friendly instruments such as shakers, rhythm sticks, jingle bells.
  • Each class includes a gathering song, singing, creative movement fun, and a short introduction to a musical idea (loud/soft, allegro/adagio, etc.).
  • After all the musical fun we will finish with a closing/goodbye song.
  • Children come with a parent, grandparent, or special person to sing with. Wear comfortable clothing and soft bottom shoes preferred (tennis shoes, crocs, rubber bottoms)

Musical Theater

Musical Theater with Cassidy May

AGES 5–8: BROADWAY BEGINNINGS

  • A playful introduction to the world of musical theatre designed especially for young performers!
  • Students will sing, act, move, create characters, play theatre games, and discover some of the most exciting shows and songs from musical theatre. Each class combines vocal training, imaginative play, acting exercises, props, improvisation, and ensemble performance.
  • Every few weeks, we’ll explore a new theme and collection of songs, from magical characters and Broadway animals to heroes, villains, and larger-than-life adventures. Students will learn how to tell a story through music, make bold character choices, and feel confident performing with others.
  • No previous singing or acting experience is needed! This class is designed to help young performers build confidence, use their imaginations, make friends, and fall in love with performing.

AGES 9–16: MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE LAB – TRIPLE THREAT TRAINING

  • Step into the rehearsal room!
  • Musical Theatre Performance Lab is an energetic, performance-based class for young artists who want to strengthen their singing, acting, movement, and storytelling skills while exploring the world of musical theatre.
  • Each class begins with a professional-style vocal and physical warm-up, followed by improv and acting exercises. Students will then dive into songs from Broadway musicals while learning about the shows, characters, composers, and history behind them.
  • A unique part of this class is our Song Lab. Students will have optional opportunities to perform in front of the group and receive individualized coaching on acting through song, vocal choices, character development, movement, and storytelling. The entire class learns from each performer’s coaching, creating a supportive environment where everyone grows together.
  • The second half of our rehearsal focuses on an ensemble musical number, where students learn harmonies, choreography, staging, character work, and what it takes to perform as a company.
  • Whether your student already loves being onstage or wants to become more confident performing in front of others, this class is designed to challenge them, encourage them, and give them the tools to become stronger musical theatre performers.
