Miss Kim has been wonderful in teaching my daughter the basics of ballet along with her having an amazing time the whole time doing it!

Caroline Bost
Dancer Mom

In over 30 years of working in preschool education I have never seen anyone better than Miss Kim at engaging children and keeping them involved. Children absolutely love her.

Barbara Long
Former Director Front Street United Methodist Church Playschool, Burlington, NC

The first time I saw her in action was kind of amazing for me because not only did she captivate the children, she entertained and captivated the parents in the room, as well!

Linda Sabo
Professional Dancer, Choreographer, and Professor of Dance for 45 years

We love everything about Miss Kim's!  My husband and I did a lot of research into what would be the best activity for our daughter to introduce her to other kids her age, and to supportive nurturing adults who foster growth. We could not recommend Miss Kim's more! Miss Kim is such a dedicated teacher to her students and staff, and it's very apparent by the way she talks to and teaches her students. Thank you Miss Kim for giving the gift of joy to everyone you come in contact with!!

About

Does your child twirl, jump, and clap when they hear music? They are using their imagination as they explore movement. These moments are powerful and parents smile, laugh, and enjoy watching this exciting time of dance exploration. If this is a common occurrence it may just be time to sign up for dance class!

Miss Kim leading Preschool Dance Teacher Training at Dance Teacher Summit, New York City.

In the Beginning

Miss Kim’s is a children’s dance studio devoted to giving young dancers the best possible start in their dance journey. My teaching approach is rooted in imagination — weaving stories and playful movement into every class. I love watching little ones light up as they explore rhythm, balance, and coordination without even realizing they’re learning.

Through walking in lines, forming circles, and mimicking animals or fairy tale characters, children begin mastering the foundational elements of tap and ballet. They leave class smiling, full of joy, and brimming with confidence — a sure sign they just had fun and learned to dance!

As They Grow

As your child grows, they begin to explore more dance styles including jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, and acrobatics. This exposure helps dancers discover what they enjoy most, while continuing to develop coordination, strength, and expressive movement. Our classes are thoughtfully designed to nurture creativity, foster teamwork, and challenge dancers at just the right pace.

Ready to Graduate

When a dancer turns 12, they are ready for Miss Kim’s NEXT STEP — a studio designed specifically for dancers ages 12–19, located at 3319 Garden Road in Burlington. This is where they continue their training in a supportive environment that challenges them artistically and technically.

By the time they graduate from “Miss Kim’s,” our dancers are prepared with solid technique, strong classroom etiquette, and an eagerness to learn. They’ve built confidence, resilience, and a deep love for dance — qualities that serve them well both inside and outside the studio.

And no matter how far they go, they will always be a “Miss Kim” dancer.

Give your child the best start with Miss Kim, a seasoned dance teacher well known and loved in our community.

A Note from Miss Kim: I’ve been teaching dance and creative movement for 38 wonderful years, and have lovingly earned the nickname “Miss Kim” from generations of dancers in the Burlington community. I’ve taught thousands of children — and now, many of their children too.

When your child walks through our doors, they become part of something special. I take the time to learn about each dancer’s unique personality, abilities, and what makes them shine. With love, patience, and joy, I guide them through their very first plié, their first recital, and eventually, their graduation to the NEXT STEP.

At Miss Kim’s, we don’t just teach dance — we build confidence, spark creativity, and create memories that last a lifetime.
